Advanced Imaging with Digital X-Rays

At Millennium Smiles, we utilize advanced digital X-ray technology to ensure accurate, safe, and efficient dental diagnostics. Digital X-rays allow us to capture detailed images of your teeth and jaw in a matter of seconds, providing real-time insights into your oral health.

This modern imaging method emits significantly lower radiation compared to traditional X-rays, prioritizing your safety while delivering high-quality results.

Experience Safer, Faster, and More Accurate Dental Imaging

Digital X-rays at Millennium Smiles provide numerous benefits, including significantly reduced radiation exposure—up to 90% less than traditional X-rays—ensuring a safer experience for our patients. The images are available instantly, allowing us to discuss your dental health and treatment options during the same visit. With enhanced image quality, we can detect even the smallest issues early on.

Digital X-rays also streamline record-keeping by easily storing images in your electronic file for future reference or specialist consultation. Plus, they enhance patient education by allowing us to show and explain your results on-screen, ensuring you fully understand your treatment options.

Why Digital X-rays?

Digital X-rays give us clear, high-resolution images that help us detect issues like cavities, bone loss, and infections early, ensuring timely treatment.

The digital process is quick and comfortable, minimizing the time you spend in the chair.

Digital X-rays don’t require chemicals for developing images, making them a more eco-friendly choice.

Advanced Diagnostic Formats: Types of Digital X-Rays

Not all dental concerns can be seen with a single angle. To provide the most comprehensive care possible, Millennium Smiles Dental Center utilizes various types of advanced digital imaging depending on your specific preventative or restorative needs:

Bitewing X-Rays

These are typically taken during routine checkups to check for decay between your back teeth (molars and premolars). They show the crowns of these teeth and the height of the bone supporting them, helping us catch hidden cavities in their earliest stages.

Periapical X-Rays

Unlike a bitewing which looks at a cluster of crowns, a periapical X-ray focuses on one or two specific teeth from the very top of the crown all the way down to the end of the root embedded in your jawbone. This is crucial for detecting deep abscesses, cysts, or root structural changes.

Panoramic X-Rays

This type of imaging captures a broad, comprehensive view of your entire mouth in a single image. It takes an external scan of your upper and lower jaws, all your teeth, the temporomandibular (TMJ) joints, and your nasal area. It is incredibly useful for planning orthodontic treatments, identifying impacted wisdom teeth, or assessing implant placement.

At Millennium Smiles, our dentists in Manila incorporate digital X-rays into your regular dental check-ups. This allows us to closely monitor changes in your dental health and tailor treatments to your unique needs. Contact us today to schedule an appointment and experience the benefits of digital X-rays.

What Client Says

Beyond the Naked Eye: What Digital X-Rays Reveal

A visual examination during your dental checkup only tells part of the story. More than half of your tooth’s structure sits hidden safely beneath your gum line and within your jawbone. Digital radiography acts as our team’s ultimate diagnostic tool, revealing hidden dental issues before they transform into painful, costly emergencies.

Through these crystal-clear images, our dentists can accurately identify:

  • Deep decay developing underneath existing dental fillings or crowns.
  • Early-stage bone loss within the jaw caused by progressive periodontal (gum) disease.
  • Severe infections, abscesses, or fluid-filled cysts located deep at the root tips of your teeth.
  • The exact positioning, depth, and developmental progress of impacted wisdom teeth.
  • Developmental abnormalities or tumors within the jawbone that require immediate specialized care.

Dental FAQs: Our FAQ section answers your questions about Digital X-Ray

Digital X-rays are a modern way of taking pictures of your teeth and jawbone. Instead of using traditional film that needs to be developed, digital X-rays use a small sensor placed in your mouth. This sensor captures the image and sends it directly to a computer, so the dentist can see it right away on a screen.

The main difference between digital X-rays and traditional film X-rays is how the images are taken and processed. Traditional X-rays use film that needs to be developed in a darkroom, which takes time and uses chemicals. Digital X-rays are faster, more efficient, and better for the environment because they don't need film or chemicals.

Digital X-rays can detect various dental issues beyond cavities, including:

  • Cysts and Tumors: Abnormal growths can be identified and monitored1.
  • Periodontal Disease: Bone loss and gum health can be assessed1.
  • Tooth Positioning Problems: Misaligned teeth and potential orthodontic needs can be identified1.
  • Wisdom Tooth Eruption: The position and potential complications of wisdom teeth can be assessed1.
  • Dental Restoration Defects: Issues with fillings, crowns, or other restorations can be detected

While digital dental X-rays emit exceptionally low, negligible doses of radiation (up to 90% less than older film units), we always exercise extreme caution. If you are pregnant or suspect you might be, please inform our team before your session. Non-emergency diagnostic X-rays can easily be postponed until after your delivery, and for necessary procedures, we use protective lead aprons and thyroid collars to eliminate risk entirely.

Not at all. The process is completely non-invasive and painless. Instead of biting down on the sharp, rigid plastic film packets used in traditional radiography, digital systems utilize sleek, rounded electronic sensors. These sensors fit comfortably inside your mouth and capture the required images in a fraction of a second, minimizing any gag reflex or discomfort.
