This type of extraction is used for teeth that are visible and easily accessible.
This type of extraction is used for teeth that are impacted or difficult to access. It may involve removing some bone or gum tissue to expose the tooth.
Knowing exactly what will happen during your appointment can completely eliminate the fear of the unknown. At Millennium Smiles Dental Center, we prioritize your peace of mind and bodily comfort at every single stage of the procedure. Here is how our expert dentists perform a precise, gentle tooth removal:
Before any treatment begins, we review your digital dental X-rays to map the exact shape, length, and positioning of the tooth root and surrounding jawbone. This allows us to plan the most conservative and efficient removal path.
We administer an advanced, fast-acting local numbing agent directly around the target tooth. We always wait a few moments to test and ensure that you are completely numb. You will not feel any sharp sensations or pain; the only thing you will notice is a light, dull pressure.
Utilizing specialized, highly precise micro-instruments, our dentists gently ease the tooth back and forth within its natural socket. This movement safely separates the tooth structure from the surrounding microscopic ligament fibers holding it in place.
Once the tooth is smoothly lifted away, the socket is thoroughly sanitized to remove any residual infection or debris. We place a clean, sterile gauze pad over the site and have you bite down firmly to establish a healthy, protective blood clot.

Thank you Dr. Aly and Mam Jovie for your help! Kudos to your team!Posted on Ritz Crizelle MabilenSeptember 8, 2024Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I went to get my dental filling done by another clinic a week before, and I was very dissatisfied. Upon drilling, my previous dentist recommended for extraction right away. And that was two of my molars. I did not want them extracted so I ended up leaving that other clinic with temporary filling on two of my molars which are essential for biting, and it was very uncomfortable. In just a few days, I could feel the temporary filling disintegrating-- I wanted to cry. Then I found this clinic. Dra Aly did not give up on my teeth. She said my molars were still viable for permanent filling, when a week ago I was told I'd lose them. Dr A is such a blessing! She applied medicine on my teeth and did a remarkable job on the permanent filling of my molars. They look good as new! And the color of their filling is very close to the color of my teeth. I'm also comfortable eating because the fillings are strong. I love it! Would recommend this clinic 100%.Posted on Sarah SillanoSeptember 1, 2024Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Highly recommended! If you've been looking for a dentist on social media, for sure you'd see posts poking fun at missed appointments and/or unhealthy habits. And though these might cater to some folks, these make me uncomfortable. This made me try Millennium Smiles when there are other clinics nearby. Doc A and staff are professional, accommodating, caring, and very understanding. I'm terrified of dentist visits, hence I delay them for as long as possible, but I feel comfortable and cared for at Millennium Smiles. Really cannot recommend them enough.
Extracting a severely damaged or problematic tooth is often an essential step to relieve pain and protect your surrounding smile from progressive bacterial infection. However, leaving an empty space in your smile over the long-term can cause your remaining teeth to shift out of alignment, disrupt your chewing balance, and lead to jawbone deterioration.
Once your extraction site has healed beautifully, our team at Millennium Smiles is ready to discuss modern, completely natural-looking tooth replacement options tailored to your lifestyle:
Dental FAQs: Our FAQ section answers your questions about Tooth Extraction
Tooth extraction, while not the most pleasant experience, is usually not painful during the procedure. Your dentist will administer local anesthesia to numb the area around the tooth being extracted, ensuring you won't feel any pain while the tooth is being removed. You may feel some pressure or movement, but you shouldn't experience any sharp or stinging sensations.
The process of tooth extraction depends on the complexity of the case.
Simple Extraction: This is for teeth that are visible above the gum line and can be easily accessed. The dentist will use an elevator tool to loosen the tooth and then use forceps to gently pull it out of its socket.
Surgical Extraction: This is for teeth that are impacted, partially erupted, or below the gum line. The dentist will make an incision in the gum to access the tooth, and may need to remove some bone to fully extract it. Sometimes, the tooth may need to be sectioned into smaller pieces for easier removal.
It's common to experience a mild fever after a tooth extraction, especially for more complex extractions like wisdom teeth. This is your body's normal response to the procedure and should subside within a few days. However, a high fever (above 38°C) accompanied by chills, aching joints, or other concerning symptoms could indicate an infection that requires immediate attention from a dentist.
Wisdom tooth extractions are generally considered the most painful due to their location and tendency to become impacted. They are located at the back of the mouth, making them harder to access, and often require surgical intervention to remove bone and gum tissue. Additionally, wisdom teeth are often impacted, meaning they haven't fully erupted or are stuck in the jawbone, making their removal more complex and painful.
A dry socket (alveolar osteitis) is a temporary but painful condition that occurs when the protective blood clot that forms in the empty socket after extraction is accidentally dislodged or dissolves before the wound can heal. This leaves the underlying bone and nerve endings exposed to air and food debris. You can easily prevent this by avoiding drinking through straws, smoking, spitting forcefully, or rinsing aggressively for at least 48 hours after surgery.
While the gum tissue will fully close up and smooth over the extraction site within a matter of a few weeks, the underlying bone gap left behind will not close up or bring the surrounding teeth together on its own. Instead, neighboring teeth will naturally try to tilt and drift into that empty space over time. This is exactly why our team recommends exploring permanent replacement solutions like a dental implant or bridge to keep your smile perfectly aligned.
